Jasper Street Pedestrian Refuge for Woree, Bayview Heights Residents.

Early in 2009 a crossing was requested for Jasper Street (at the intersection with Toogood Road) in Woree. Many children cross the street on the way to and from school as do parents with toddlers attending Bayview Kindy.

The street did not meet the technical requirements for traffic calming or a zebra crossing, so instead a ‘traffic refuge’ has been placed at the end of the street, where pedestrians can see any traffic that may be coming from Toogood Road.

The refuge will also stop cars from turning into Jasper at speed and drifting onto the wrong side of the road.
