CAIRNS MUDCRABS HOSTED STATE CHAMPS

A State Masters Swimming Carnival was recently held in the TAS pool in White Rock. The Cairns Mudcrabs played host for the event, on behalf of the Queensland Branch of Masters Swimming. These 2010 Queensland State Short Course Titles saw the area welcome swimmers from all parts of Australia to Cairns.

Sporting Carnivals and Masters Sporting events in particular, have a positive impact on the Cairns economy. However, Cairns will need a new aqautic facility or an upgrade to an existing pool if it is to host state and national events in the future.

The Cairns Masters Swimming Club was formed in 1982 and has proved to be fun and outgoing group of people who provide a fantastic example of ‘positive ageing’. The club operates out of the Gordonvale and Woree pools
