WHITE ROCK SEWERAGE MILLION DOLLAR UPGRADE
Over a million dollars has been spent on sewerage upgrades in White Rock over the last 3 years.
Work is well underway on the $335k Skull Road/Kowinka Street Sewer Extension.
This work comes on top of the new sewerage infrastructure that was put underground in south White Rock last year.
From: April 2010
One of the last un-sewered sections of White Rock will now get sewerage thanks to a $762 987.00 allocation from Council at a recent Water and Waste meeting. The area that will receive attention is bordered by Giffin Road in the north and Fretwell Road in the south. It includes a number of rural residential blocks (that have development approvals), as well as the Leichhardt Soccer Club and new aged care development on the corner of Progress Road and Fretwell Road.
Announcing the funding, Cr. Rob Pyne said, “With the change from rural-residential to a Residential 2 area, as allowed under CairnsPlan, sewerage has to happen. It has been coming for some time, but it took time to secure the signatures of all the land owners.”
Cr. Pyne said, “That land is full of natural springs, so as we enter the dry season, we can look at doing the work. It is a real relief to now have all the signatures needed from the land owners and a budget allocation that allows the work to be done. I expect many of the effected property owners will also be relieved.”
