BENTLEY VILLAGE AND MARTI STREET LOOKING WITH HOPE TO 2011
BENTLEY VILLAGE A BUSY HUB
January 2011: While many businesses in the CBD continue to experience tough times, it is great to see Bentley Village is usually fully tenanted.
There has been a strong campaign to support the Cairns CBD and spend more money to ‘smarten up the CBD’. We support this campaign as the CBD is vital to how visitors see our city. However, at the end of the day, it is the nearby residential population that will support our town centres.
Southside residents make Bentley Village viable and many of the houses that have been (and will be) built in Edmonton will make the new Edmonton Town Centre viable. The added benefit of this is the location of more services closer to home for all residents.
MARTI STREET SHOPS EXPAND
Small businesses have been doing it tough for a few years now and things become even harder when part of your precinct becomes a construction zone.
The Marti Street Shops are hopeful that 2011 will be much improved. And it should be, with the addition of a new convenience store giving residents another reason to ‘shop local’.
Suzie and John at the butchers, Janeen at Dye-Versity Hair and a great little takeaway, all provide great customer service at a competitive price.
