Working Confidently with Diverse Victims of Crime: Community Law and Justice.


Free training opportunity

14 – 20 May is LAW WEEK    as part of the events Victim Assist Queensland is excited to host a free training opportunity for all agencies working directly or indirectly with victims of crime.

Nova Consultancy will deliver the training.  Nova has over 20 years of experience delivering community and interpreting services across the Government and Non- Government sector.  They have developed a specialised training session on working effectively and confidently with victims of crime from diverse cultural and linguistic background.

Key topics will include:

·     Using interpreters effectively and productively

·     Relevant legislation and best practices for using interpreters

·     Cultural competence

·     Develop strategies that reduce misunderstanding due to diverse communication styles.

When: May 16th 2012
Where: Cairns Courthouse Training Room, Ground Floor, 5D Sheridan Street, Cairns, Qld 4870.
Fee : FREE for Court Stakeholders and volunteers
Time: 9am to 4pm

Although this training is free of charge to participants, RSVP’s are vital as seats are limited.

Lunch and morning tea will be provided.

Parking can be found beside the State Government Building for $2 a day or under the Convention Centre for $4 a day.
