Cairns Festival and The Village on Esplanade!

CAIRNS FESTIVAL
Cairns Festival showcases the rich creativity and culture of Tropical North Queensland over 17 action packed days between Saturday 17 August and Sunday 2 September  – and it’s just around the corner!  Whats new on the programme this year?
VILLAGE LIFE
The one newcomer that is bound to get people moving, grooving and enjoying Festival life is a quirky, vaudevillean sideshow romp that is The Village on Esplanade. Council’s Creative Cairns Manager, Leslie Sparkes, says, “The Village adds a touch of fantasy to Cairns Festival – think a gilded, steam-powered carnival of delights with its toes cooling in the lagoon under a palm tree.  Be amazed and be intrigued!” The Village on Esplanade’s line-up will include an energetic, eclectic mix of entertainment – individual performances, musical acts, comedians, singers, dancers, acrobats, artists and roving performers, as well as a solid workshop program featuring the Children’s Village and “A Big Print” for the kids by Inkmasters. Keep your eyes on this space for announcements of our fabulous local and national artists! “Like” us on Facebook to keep up-to-date on all the fun in The Village! http://www.facebook.com/creativepartnerships
ESTIVAL SHOUT OUT FOR VOLUNTEERSThe 2012 Cairns Festival has begun building its volunteer corps, and is now calling for helpers to donate their time and skills in support of the 17 August to 2 September season. Besides being part of the behind-the-scenes action, Cairns Festival volunteers receive an official Festival Team tee shirt and complimentary tickets to Cairns Festival events. Volunteering is also an opportunity to learn new event management skills, support artists and audience participation, and make new friends as part of the festival family.  To register, contact Cairns Festival administrator, Caz Williams on tel: 4044 3594 or email:festival@cairns.qld.gov.au.
