Would you like to be “A Friend of YAPS”?
The Friends of YAPS are a group of volunteers who work towards providing the care needed for abandoned, abused, unwanted and homeless cats and dogs in the Cairns area. In recognising animal rights, YAPS depends on community support to provide these animals with the best possible care, so they all have a second chance in life, to find a loving, caring new home.
The Friends of YAPS work together with the community to raise the much needed money to continue to provide this vital service to these animals and the community. The Friends of YAPS raise money by selling raffle tickets, organising car washes, sausage sizzles, trash and treasure stalls, fund raising functions and donation boxes placed around the community. Different business and community organisations, as well as individuals often donate items and funds to YAPS to help in their much needed work. The Friends of YAPS work tirelessly to raise money to provide ongoing support to the animals in their care. This is a big job.
Not to hurt our humble brethren (the animals) is our first duty to them,
but to stop there…….. is not enough.
We have a higher mission – to be of service to them whenever they require it…
If you have men who will exclude any of God’s creatures from
the shelter of compassion and pity,
you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men.
– Saint Francis of Assisi
The welfare of these animals should be very important to us all and it is our responsibility to do whatever we can to ensure they have a brighter future, full of hope……. in our little part of the world.
The Friends of YAPS needs extra volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a Friend of YAPS, please contact us. We need your help. The animals need your help.
